At Ive got worms.com we mainly sell nematodes (a.k.a. worms) that are used for fish food and that’s great. Who doesn’t love feeding microworms to their fish fry or growing their own to ridiculous amounts! But now we’re introducing another nematode to our stock, a lethal parasite of slugs known as Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita.

It’s been developed as a biological control agent for slugs since 1994! It’s very effective and hunts out slugs in the soil, infects them and kills them in 4 to 21 days. As we can’t use slug pellets anymore it’s a proper candidate as one of the most important slug control products out there. However, we at Ive got worms.com have come up with a new way of applying it, which we’ve called Can of Worms. More info to come, but basically the nematodes are mixed with a highly attractive slug bait which the slugs love. When they feed on it they then get infected with nematodes, stop feeding, and crawl down into the soil to die. Pretty cool eh? Anyway, we’re going to be promoting Can of Worms tirelessly so make sure you order some, the slugs will be emerging from their winter slumber soon, ready to eat your veggies!
